About us

I grew up in the piedmont area of North Carolina, about 200 miles away from the beach.
I started out fishing with my Pawpaw Johnson on his farm in Western Alamance County as an
eight-year-old. While being outside, enjoying nature, I discovered my passion for fishing.
Spending summers on the farm, learning about the fish in the small creeks and in the pond
formed my desire to fish with every opportunity that presented itself. In my early 20’s I was
able to purchase a small aluminum boat. Co-workers and close friends were my fishing
partners. With our excursions, I was able to learn from them and figure out fishing patterns
and migrating habits of various species.

In my 30’s and 40’s I spent most of my time fishing in major lakes in the piedmont area
and would occasionally get the opportunity to fish at the beach. Fortunate, to have a cousin,
Ron Kimrey, I was introduced to Harkers Island and Cape Lookout. Immediately falling in love, I
was overwhelmed by the year-round fishing opportunities this area provides. At this point, 20+
years of fishing experience has been obtained for Harkers Island.

Fishing has always been a huge part of my life, since I was a small child. Now, I can
enjoy being on the water when weather allows. I decided to pursue my United States Coast
Guard Captains License so I could share my knowledge with others that have the desire to
experience one of North Carolina’s greatest treasures, Our Crystal Coast.

Boat

We fish from a custom modified Jones Brothers Skiff to get in the skinny water where others
cannot. The boat is equipped with a 112 lb. thrust Minn Kota Trolling Motor to quietly move
around the shallows and a tower to spot schooling fish before they get spooked by the boat.
Fishing occurs inshore around the protected areas of Cape Lookout. Occasionally, the boat will
venture out to near shore fishing grounds if the customers agree.

The boat accommodates up to three adults or two adults and two kids.
